Our elementary program strives to be holistic and student centered in its entirety. We provide a foundation for social and emotional development with academic rigor that prepares them for middle school, high school, and college. Our unique curriculum is standard based and adapted to be from a bilingual perspective. This perspective provides students with an opportunity to develop critical thinking, while supporting their identity.
Our multilingual teachers develop interdisciplinary units across the curricula so that students can engage in meaningful learning. We believe that all students have funds of knowledge and we facilitate the conditions that prepare our students to become lifelong learners and become active members in our community.
PreK Program
Academia Cesar Chavez maintains a four-star Parent Aware rating for our Voluntary PreK program, with a whole-child approach to Kindergarten readiness.
The Voluntary PreK program at Academia currently has two sections, each consisting of one teacher, one educational partner, and no more than twenty students. This ensures a 1:10 staff-to-student ratio, and all PreK staff are fluent native speakers of Spanish. The PreK program is a Four Star Parent Aware-rated program, overseen by the Head of Primary School.
ACC utilizes the “Estrellita” and Heggerty curriculum for phonological awareness. This is in conjunction with the incorporation of the Minnesota Early Learning Standards as a core component of the program.
Early Childhood and Development Screening is completed as part of the enrollment process for PreK or our new Kindergarten students, to ensure students receive screening within 90 days of their enrollment at Academia.
