Our middle school program prepares our students for high school and beyond. The program embraces ethnic studies, implemented with the support of Dr. Curtis Acosta.
The program is set up to emulate high school expectations while being an environment that allows students to make mistakes and learn from them so that they can grow to be high-school-ready.
MS has conferences 9 weeks into each quarter so that families can meet with teachers, review progress in coursework, and collaboratively make a plan for success to close out the last 3 weeks of the quarter and be ready to enter the next quarter.
Critique of more traditional narratives in terms of history while maintaining momentum towards what students see in themselves. From local curriculum such as Northern Lights: Stories of Minnesota’s Past to books from various countries across South America, these relevant texts are but one of the many ways the Middle School is exemplifying ACC’s mission and vision.
Bilingual core class offerings.
Students take half their core classes in English, and half in Spanish.
Individual student schedules are built around student’s strengths in each particular language to support teacher’s scaffolding and differentiating accordingly.
e.g. a student may thrive in a social studies class in either language, however might need more support to succeed in a science class taught in Spanish.
Services like ELL and SPED are delivered as their own courses in MS.
